Title: Jack Thompson Has Been Disbarred!
Goryu29 - September 25, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
It's Game Over for Jack Thompson, an anti-gaming attorney of Florida, when a judge of the Florida Supreme Court permanently disbarred him from practicing law. This will take effect in thirty days from today. Thompson is also ordered to repay the Florida Bar fees, with a total of $43,675.35.
Quote:
The Court approves the corrected referee's report and John Bruce Thompson is permanently disbarred, effective thirty days from the date of this order so that respondent can close out his practice and protect the interests of existing clients. If respondent notifies the Court in writing that he is no longer practicing and does not need the thirty days to protect existing clients, this Court will enter an order making the permanent disbarment effective immediately. Respondent shall accept no new business from the date this order is filed.
Note that Thompson still has a chance of asking for a re-trial.

What did the guy do to go to jail?

^ Toadster101, you need to read the artical to find out why.

At last, serves him right. I mean, he shouldn't be so narrow minded as to think that every single game is bad.

I like VG! Jack Thomson stinks.

Good news. Maybe now we can start pushing the rating systems instead of complaining about society once the games are already in the hands of minors.
Louis Theroux should do an interview with Thompson. He'd get a lot out of him. That's if the BBC doesn't consider gaming as too niche, even for Theroux to cover.

Haha, good news indeed. Bad parents and out-of-touch politicians will still blame video games for violent crimes, but at least there will be one less lawyer backing them up.
In the other hand, now somebody who's actually competent might replace him.

Now if only we can get rid of Keith Vaz (The British version of Jack Thompson).

I've never heard of this Keith Vaz. Is he the same thing as Jack Thompson was in the US?

Well, that's IF there's truly someone competent enough to replace Jack Thompson. But those kind of people are hard to find, Sigurd.
DeadPhoenX - October 1, 2008 05:07 AM (GMT)
^ It's not that they're hard to find. They're already in Insane Asylums so nobody wants to touch them.
So now that Jack-O is out of the picture, doesn't Australia have their own douchebag to deal with. At this point I feel really sorry for the Aussies. You guys get shafted for everything. You guys won't even get Dead Space and Fallout 3.
Somethings gotta give down there.
